Event: Jefferson visits Sir Ashton Lever's MuseumDates: 1786-04-18 - 1786-04-18Short Description: Lever converted his house in Leicester Square to a “Holophusicon,” or a natural history museum. This was one of the most extensive in Europe. However, Lever had just disposed of his collection by lottery when the visit occurred, and it was later sold by auction in 1806.
