Jefferson Travels to Woburn Farm Start date: April 4, 1786 End date: April 4, 1786 Description: This farm was owned by Lord Loughborough, and was given such an enthusiastic description that Jefferson visited it twice. The estate was 135 acres of which 35 acres were gardens. Jefferson was said to have commented that the Woburn Old Farm was the finest he had ever seen of its type. This garden was probably the most famous garden that Jefferson saw and it served as the model for many gardens abroad.
