Event: Jefferson visits Blenheim Palace.Dates: 1786-04-09 - 1786-04-09Short Description: Jefferson and Adams visit the Duke of Marlborough’s country estate at Blenheim Palace. This large Baroque mansion was built by Sir John Vanbrugh for the Duke of Marlborough between 1705 and 1722. Jefferson toured the grounds and interior and seemed to delight in the improvements made to the landscape by Capability Brown in the 1750s but did not think much of the Palace’s gardens.
