Ashton LeverDates: 1729-03-05 - 1788-01-28 (O.S. Birth: 0000-00-00) Short Description: Lever owned and operated the Holophusicon natural history museum at his house in Leicester Square. It was opened in 1775, but all the items were sold by auction in 1806. Captain Cook was so impressed by the collection that he donated his artifacts from Australia. It was a Mr. James Parkinson who sold them at auction after Lever went bankrupt.
